Mini Referees
Officiating makes a difference...
Welcome to the Mini Referee resource centre. This area is still under development, but will grow as more information and functions are added.
If you are interested in becoming a referee for mini soccer, the first thing you should do is download and print off a copy of the information sheet (at the bottom of this page). Fill it out and then drop it off at your local community centre (check the listings under "communities" for a complete list). Your convener will contact you about the application.
General Information
- Mini Referees officiate at the U7 and U8 soccer games only.
- Currently, the wage for officiating a mini soccer game is $12.00
- Payroll is submitted to the league at the end of each month.
- You should wear soccer apparel for the most part - black shorts or sweats, soccer shoes (you will be doing a lot of running), plus dark shirt preferred. If available, you will be provided with a "referee" t-shirt. If you have your referee t-shirt from the 2009 season and it still fits, please use it as there is a limited number of shirts and sizes still currently available.
- Whistles are generally supplied by your community centre, however if you already have one, or prefer a better one, you may supply your own.
- Mini Referee clinics will br provided if you have no experience. If you have officiated before, it is generally a good idea to take a refresher to make sure you have all the latest rules. A copy of the rules is available here for download as well.
- Referees are asked to officiate at the Mini Soccer Jamboree the last weekend in May as well. This payroll is separate from your season payroll.
- If you have any questions about officiating, either before the season or during, do not hesitate to ask. ou can talk to your soccer convener, the Director of Mini Soccer, or the Referee-in-Chief.
- You are responsible to be at all your games once scheduled. If you can not attend, you are solely responsible to make other arrangements with another ref. You will be supplied with a contact sheet prior to the season start.
